Gmundner Lodge aims to provide travellers with a very special experience in the wilderness of Namibia, in keeping with its “Back to Nature” philosophy. The lodge’s concept is based on sustainable luxury and places great emphasis on resource-conserving agriculture. Our main lodge is a reminder of a bygone era and invites you to come and enjoy the slow pace of life in the wild. The heart of our lodge is steeped in safari nostalgia, with handcrafted campaign furniture and inviting lounges dotted with antique safari curios, telescopes and binoculars.

To make the most of the exquisite natural surroundings, the lodge’s billowing canvas exterior walls roll away to reveal sweeping views of the dramatic landscape and the wildlife passing by outside. Here, cloud-like loungers surround the sparkling infinity pool for a cool respite from the heat of the day, and perch on the edge of the deck to capture spectacular sunsets.
As night falls, the lodge transforms under the warm glow of flickering lanterns and candlelight to reveal an unimaginably deep onyx sky, dotted with stars. Best viewed from the expansive deck or around the boma fire.

Set away from the main lodge, our suites reveal a vision of old-world safari splendour cocooned beneath a swath of billowing canvas. Soft leather chairs, rich mahogany furniture, antiques, and artifacts adorn the interior, creating an invitation for leisure and indulgence. With indoor and outdoor bathing, guests can luxuriate surrounded by wilderness, and days can be whiled away with blissful ease.
